2019 Field Notes

Rain, rain will it ever stop raining. We managed to plant to fields in April, but then it started to rain. We had a second chance in mid-May, but it then continued to rain. By now we were more than saturated.  We finally finished up on the 11th of June, one of latest planting dates ever. Definitely not what we prefer.  The summer continued to be wet, with only average temps.  Crop matured slowly, not what we needed after a slow start. When harvest came, the poor weather conditions were apparent.  Yields were down dramatically compared to last year, and grain quality fell short of our goal. Just the opposite of the 2019 year. We managed to get field work done with the assistance of a rented four wheel drive tractor.
